The investments planned for 2015 in technology and telecommunications in Brazil should reach 85 billion dollars up 9.2% compared to 2014.

Since the grants program of the railway was started in Brazil in the late 1990s, investment in new technologies, professional training, purchase and refurbishment of locomotives and wagons, as well as the improvement of rail operations, totaled 17.9 billion dollars. The estimated expenditures of dealerships by 2015 is 8 billion dollars.

The expectation is that the industry gain momentum with the Logistics Investment Plan (LIP), launched by the federal government in August 2012 and provides, among other things, investment of nearly 100 billion dollars in construction and adaptation of 11 000 miles of railroads in the next three decades. In all, 13 rail networks of the five regions of the country will be covered by the program. The government plans to auction the first stretches this year.

According to net sales of rail transportation, 33.2% are passenger transportation (subways, trains and light rail vehicles) while 66.8% are freight transportation.

Brazil has over than 28.000 km extension of rail tracks to rail freight operated by 12 companies.

According to the National Bank of Economic and Social Development (BNDES), federal highways will have investments of 35 billion dollars, 38.45 billion in railways, 12.2 billion in harbors and 4.6 billion in airports.
