ADVANTAGES OF ROBOTS
There are many advantages of robots. In many fields, Robots will always have advantage over humans. Many people believe that the increase of robots have caused unemployment. However, that is not necessarily true. Robots taken away employees from repetitive and dangerous jobs and put them in better ones. Robots are used to assemble cars, deactivate bombs, weld pipes at the bottom of the sea and work in nuclear power plants, for example.
I. The industrial robots are increasingly present. In the US, the first industrial robot appeared in 1960 and since then has been improved their technology and more benefits continue grow.
a. About productivity, robots can produce a bigger quantity, faster and higher quality than humans. Moreover, Robots are more precise and work without breaks, days off or holiday.
b. In the field of industrial safety, Robots can save workers from dangerous tasks, such as work in bad conditions. They are able to work with toxic chemicals or lifting heavy loads, for example.
c. For the most company owners, saving is more than a happiness, but is a necessity to survival of the company. Robots is a good choose because they reduce wasted material, time to produce and worker injuries.
II. Robotic surgery is a high technology and advanced form of surgery because is minimally invasive. In this kind of surgery, a computer-controlled robot helps doctors in certain surgical procedures.
a. Robotic surgery allow the surgeons operate in very tight spaces in the body. Otherwise, only would be accessible with open surgery.
b. Robotic surgery is better than conventional because being less invasive causes less pain and scarring in patients. Moreover, the post-surgery is faster with shorter hospitalization.
c. Other benefits are the greater precision during the surgery and reduction of blood loss and transfusions and the risk of infection.
III. The use of robots in the space is preferable than humans because they do not need food, drink or oxygen and can support inhospitable conditions. Moreover, although expensive to produce, is always better loss a robot than loss a human astronaut.
a. The space robots are used to perform an action in space like position an instrument to take a measurement, collect a sample for examination, assemble a structure or even move around an astronaut. In some ways space robots they replace a human performing an action.
b. On space, it is even more attractive to use robots. They can support or replace people to carry out tasks that are too dangerous, too difficult, repetitive, time consuming or even impossible for astronauts. In addition, they can be faster and more precise than people can.
c. With the zero gravity in outer space, a small robot can move huge objects. Even if less than 40 cm high, a robot can jump over obstacles up to two of meters high, a feat that is impossible on Earth with its force of gravity.
