Basic Hiphop's History
The hip-hop emerged in the U.S. in the 70s, blacks in the suburbs of New York.
The term Hip-Hop was established by black Africa Bambaataa, inspired by two cyclical movements.
The first sought to transmit the culture of the American ghettos. The second sought precisely in the most popular dance of the time, in other words, jump (HOP) moving the hips (HIP). It was an invitation to the party.
Four elements of Hip Hop culture:
1 - DJ (disc jockey): The man who provides the beats for the MC rhyme.
2 - MC (master of ceremonies): The rapper
3 - B boy: Who dance "break dance" or is "b-boying"
4 - Grafitti: A kind of artistic expression of Hip Hop that focuses on painting as a way of expressing positive messages (do not confuse with pixação that's another thing).
Street Dance
The street dance is formed by several styles, all of them influenced by dance funk. Everything that is not Classical (academic) is Street. Street despite mean “Rua”, not to say that all styles emerged exactly in the streets. It just means it came from the people of the city, which is not academic. How Street Wear, Stylish Streets; she is there, but it's not done there.
Dance styles - Street Dance
There are various styles of dance within the Street Dance, among them we have as main:
The Breaking executed by the B.boys or B.Girls
The Locking, run by lockers
The Popping, run by poppers
Hip Hop Dance (New School Hip Hop Dance), performed by hip hoppers
The Social Dances (passinho dance clubs)
Locking
Locking (originally called Campbellocking) is a style of funk dance, which is today also associated with hip hop. Was created by Don Campbell, who in 1972 formed the group The Lockers, the first professional group.
It relies on quick movements of arm and hand movements combined with more relaxed hip and legs, and one of its main elements arm motions, where the key step is the Lock (lock).
Locking is the oldest and most classic Street Dance and is considered one of the most complex implementation. The Lockers dress with their own style, wearing colorful clothes with lists and suspenders.
Popping
Emerged in the early '70s in California, created by Boogaloo Sam. Evolved from an ancient dance, Robot (which was just a copy of the mechanical movements of a robot), becoming more complex due to waving movements that began to incorporate.
It is based on the technique of quickly contracting and relaxing muscles to cause known "pops" that are made continuously to the rhythm of a song in combination with various movements and poses.
Breaking
Also known as Breaking or Bboying, is a street dance that is part of the culture of Hip-Hop. The Breakdance was originally used as a popular event, now being used as a means of recreation or competition worldwide. DJs come and play the music and the dancers (or b.boys b.girls) Freestyle dance on this beat of the music.
Hip Hop
Dance Hip-Hop consists of improvisations (freestyle) using as a basis the Street Dances (Locking, Popping, B-Boying, Freestyle Hip Hop, House Dance) and other techniques Urban Dances.
Allows up with it the creation of new movements, which denounces other properties of this dance: innovation and creative freedom. At any time, new styles and concepts appear further enriching this dance.
Nowadays
These days when it says Street Dance dance you mean by: Locking, Wacking / Punking, Twerking, Up Rocking, Popping (Waving, Scare Crow, Animation, King Tut, etc..) Boogalooing, B.Boying, Freestyle Hip Hop, Jerk, New Style, Douguie and House Dance.
