Avaliação Do Desmatamento De Novo Horizonte Do Oeste -RO

Abstract. Deforestation of the Amazon rainforest is one of the main environmental problems of today's world, due to its great importance to the environment. This Deforestation causes extinction of plant and animal species, bringing irreparable damage to the Amazon ecosystem. In this sense, the present work aims to demonstrate the occupancy and preservation of the city of Novo Horizonte do Oeste - RO, using remote sensing tools, using orbital images from different periods of the satellite TM / LANDSAT-5. The images used were three distinct periods: 1991, 2001 and 2011, which allowed the generation of graphs and maps, together, allowing visualization of vegetation dynamics. Working with images from different periods, makes it possible to define and calculate the deforestation carried out in these periods, fixing the rate of expansion and the likely environmental impacts. The evolution of vegetation removal between 2001 and 2011 is worrisome, considering that the area no longer could be cleared in accordance with the law. Deforestation affects the municipality, including riparian forest, without any planning for the future, especially for the preservation of the natural environment, causing a number of impacts on biodiversity and changes in biota. In addition to studies of the area, to protect the legal reserve is required and awareness activities necessary public policies, expanding the monitoring and effective actions of the competent bodies as IBAMA, SEDAM and also joint actions of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and associations .
