RESUMO: A educação para o turismo não pode, nos dias de hoje, estar focada tão somente no sentido de

qualificação profissional. A memória de um povo é o fator definidor da origem e identidade do indivíduo,

conferindo-lhe, além disso, a sua dignidade. Através da memória o homem guarda seus usos e valores, os

quais irá transmitir de geração a geração. A troca de experiências e vivências, entre o turista e o

autóctone, que interagindo, transmitem seus costumes e valores através das manifestações de cultura

popular, configura-se em uma possibilidade de enriquecimento do indivíduo e da sociedade. Revela-se,

esse processo, em uma alternativa viável para o desenvolvimento consciente da atividade turística dentro

de uma determinada localidade.

ABSTRACT: The education for the tourism should not, nowadays, be focus so only in the direction of

professional qualification. The memory of a people is the defining factor of the origin and identity of the

individual, conferring to it, moreover, the dignity. Through the memory the man keeps his uses and

values, which will go to transmit of generation of generation. The exchange of experiences, between the

tourist and the native, that interacting, they transmit their customs and values through the manifestations

of popular culture, it is configured in a possibility of enrichment of the individual and the society. Reveal

this process, in a viable alternative for the conscientious development of the tourist activi
