The beauty salon professionals are exposed to many hazardous agents in their workplaces, which are capable of causing serious adverse health effects. The best known reports are related to respiratory, dermatological and musculoskeletal problems. Considering the variability of work environments and the presence of less obvious risks to which these professionals are exposed, it is possible that physical risks, such as noise also affect the health of this professional to some degree. In this way, already knowing the exposure to chemicals present in the working environment of a beauty salon and considering the presence of noise in the same environment, it is possible that although the noise level may not reach unhealthy values within the environment, mutual exposure could cause the in these professionals. The objective of the present study is to describe and characterize the hearing of salon professionals and to analyze the performance in the speech test with noise. The study included 16 participants, mean age of 44 years, mean work time per week of 46.4 hours per week and an average of 21.7 years of work. The following procedures were performed: anamnesis, meatoscopy, acoustic immitance measures, tonal audiometry to ultra-high frequencies, speech audiometry, and the speech test with noise. In the analysis of the audiometric evaluation, it was possible to verify altered audiograms in 50% of the participants, being 18.75% changes suggestive of NIHL and 30.25% alterations not suggestive of NIHL. Statistical differences were found in the audiometric thresholds when compared to the time of profession, however, it was not possible to conclude that higher audiometric thresholds are only due to this variable, since in comparing the same thresholds with age, statistical differences were also observed.
