ABSTRACT

Currently, suicidal behavior has become a major public health problem, so it is necessary to identify nurses' care, risk factors and difficulties encountered by nurses in providing care to patients with suicidal behavior, so that they can prevent this kind of problem. The present study aims to analyze the performance of the nurses of the FHS in the city of Esperantina-PI, in front of the suicidal behavior. This study addresses a qualitative research. The data collection was done through semi-structured interviews in the basic health units of the municipality of Esperantina-PI. For the data treatment, the thematic category analysis technique was used. The results of this study indicate that nurses work in prevention in a few ways, using a few preventive methods, due to the lack of training and training of these professionals, the most used are: lectures in schools and basic health units, campaigns in September yellow, conversation wheels. The nurses report that they attended a few cases of patients who presented the suicidal behavior, and in these few cases they went directly to the psychologist, where it is possible to identify that is verified mainly by community health agents and third parties. Another indication is the multidisciplinary partner of other professionals, as these offer a qualified and specialized care for the case, knowing which approach method to use. In this way, knowing the risk factors and methods of prevention of suicidal behavior, can bring to the community, family and nurses, a safe care, thus, it was noticed the sensitization by professionals and population, for a reception and bond with greater security, as well as mental health actions to be developed by nursing professionals.
