        Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, editor, and critic that was born on January 19, 1809, in Boston and died on October 7, 1849, in Baltimore. Poe's life was characterized by a traumatic childhood experience transmitting it to his works, mainly writing macabre tales.

        In the short story "The Black Cat", Edgar writes initially about a protagonist who was a good person and liked animals, later a radical transformation changes your personality, the character becoming an aggressive person and the cause appears to be alcohol, which takes away any kind of censorship.

[pic 2]        As well as the character of "The Black Cat", Edgar Allan Poe had serious problems caused by alcohol addiction and it reflects in the short history, showing the tormented individual who he himself had become because of various psychological problems suffered from childhood.

         “The oval portrait” it was an important work, but in this story the influence of the author's story was less evident. Maybe the evidence is the madness of a real-life move to a painting, showing who loves his work and knew only survive for his art because he was a solitary person  

In conclusion, Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer very important and pioneer in his industry, and his works clearly were influenced by his dramatic story
