DO YOU TRACK THE RESULTS OF YOUR PLANS?
In my opinion, a good plan is based upon clear, well-defined and easily understood objectives. The plan should take into consideration your current personal and professional moment in your life, so that you have a concrete starting point and set goals. To achieve a certain objective or goal, we need to analyze what needs to be done to achieve it and that is why we make plans.
Five years ago my life was completely different. I was in college studying Eletrical Engineering and living alone with my parents’ money. And I really didn't have a lot of worries.
However, thanks to college studies, today I got my job in the field as an engineer. Throughout college I researched the best companies to work with energy and planned to pass in these companies, studying how each one approved in their admission processes.
I am trying to improve in several areas of my life, but at the moment my biggest focus is to upgrade my professional life. As a plan I am always reading about news in my area, looking for a professional mentor, talking to people who can motivate me, improving English and starting to learn Spanish. In addition, I am trying to be more communicative and organized, qualities that can improve both my personal and professional life.
In my personal life, a negative experience happened when I came to live in Jundiaí, I was still an intern and had little money. My plan was to share the apartment with someone to reduce expenses. The first months were nice, but afterwards the coexistence started to become more difficult. The guy wasn’t very organized and didn’t care much about cleanliness and in addition we needed to fulfill a one year rental contract. He didn’t respect the commitment and left the apartment in the middle of the contract, and because of that I have to pay the expenses alone for a while until a friend comes to live with me. If I could go back in time, I would have gone to live alone in a cheaper place instead of sharing it with a stranger.
On the other hand, I have had several positive experiences. The main one was to pass the Siemens internship selection process, the company I wanted to work for. During college I participated in several selection processes of other companies to understand how the dynamics worked and followed my results through feedback from evaluators. This tracking was very important to understand that I needed to adapt the way that I presented in these processes and where I should improve in order to be approved in the company that I wanted.
I think it is very important to track the results of our plans, to see if we are going the right way and adapt if necessary. From my previous experiences, I could see that the better I plan, the greater the chance that the result will be positive. The negative experiences I had happened because I had little time to plan. For my future plans, I will certainly plan well and calmly and follow the results step by step to be able to adapt in time to not have a negative experience.
If I could give a piece of advice to someone less experienced than me, it would be to track all the results of the plans and think about what you could do to make it better or adapt to take the right way.
