O Simple Present

DO / Does

Simple Present Tense( Presente do Indicativo)

Indica ações que acontecem regularmente,ou não acontecem nunca.

Ex: I study every day.

      She never goes there.

A conjugação dos verbos em inglês é muito simples. No Simple Present modifica-se apenas a terceira pessoa do singular, acrescentando-se um s ( não a todos os verbos), por exemplo:

              TO DRINK               TO STUDY           TO HAVE           TO GO

Ex:       I        drink                      study                      have                       go

            You   drink                      study                      have                       go

            He    drinks                    studies                has                   goes

            She   drinks              studies               has                goes

            it       drinks              studies                has                   goes

            We     drink                    study                       have                       go

            you    drink                 study                        have                       go

            They   drink                    study                       have                       go

Nas formas interrogativa e negativa, utiliza-se o auxiliar Do para todas as pessoas, menos a terceira pessoa(he,she,it), onde utilizamos o DOES.

Ex:You speak English well.

      You don’t speak English well.

      Do you speak English well?

     

      Mary speaks English well.

      Mary doesn’t speak English well.

      Does Mary speak English well?

      We go to the beach on Sundays.

      We don’t go to the beach on Sundays.

      Do we go to the beach on Sundays?

      He goes to the beach on Sundays.

      He doesn’t go to the beach on Sundays.

      Does he go to the beach on Sunday?

  Regras de escrita:-

Aos verbos que terminam em s,ss,sh,ch,z, o, acrescenta-se es na terceira pessoa.

Ex:  go       -   goes

       Teach -    teaches

No caso dos verbos terminados em y, se o y for precedido de uma consoante ele será trocado por i e acrescenta-se es.

Ex:  study   studies        try     tries

 

Mas se o y for precedido por uma vogal acrescenta-se apenas o s.

Ex:   play   plays         stay     stays
