The history of the movie "The Martian" happens in planet Mars, and it began at "Sol 18". Sol is the unit that is used in Mars timekeeping. Here on earth, in earth timekeeping the movie happens in 2035.

The protagonist of the movie is Mark Watney, he is astronaut and botanist.

Talking about the other main characters, the mission commander is Melissa Lewis, an astronaut from the army of USA. The main characters that appears on earth are the mission director Vincent kapoor, the satellite planner Mindy Park (this two characters discover that Watney is alive on Mars), Rich Purnell(who figure out how to save Watney, utilizing an movement that is named "slingshot", sending the ship of commander Lewis back to Mars). All the characters works for the NASA.

The genre of the movie is science fiction. Movies of this genre are about scientific events that are, maybe for now, fiction.

Summarizing the movie: An strong dust storm forces the crew of Ares III evacuate Mars, but one of the astronauts is stuck by debris and the crew leave Mars without him, because they thought that he was dead. After NASA figures out that Watney is alive, the crew of the mission Ares III and an astrodynamicist make a plan to rescue Watney. The plan consists in return to Mars with the Hermes spaceship, and rescue Watney in Mars without entering in the Mars atmosphere, using a space rendezvous. Saving details, the plan work, and after several years Watney returns to earth and becomes a survival instructor for new astronauts.

The climax of the story is when Hermes rescue Watney, because several problems happens while the rescue is done. It end's with success and the climax end's.

The major theme of the story is show all the difficulties that Watney have while he tries to survive in Mars, and show how the NASA figures out a plan to save him.

The most interesting character for me is Watney, of course, because he shows an extraordinary willpower, and don't give up never.

I recommend this movie for everybody, because it's a amazing history of an smart astronaut that never gives up, and teach to ourselves to have willpower and aways believe in yourself.
