It has been engaged by CCT to analyses the college’s use of the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) and research Moodle functionality versus the functionality/capabilities of other LMS available in the market. It is aware that Moodle is an example of Open Source software, but it needs to research the market alternatives.

1. Critically analyses CCT’s use of Moodle and describe two areas where this use is “best practice” and two areas where this use is in need of improvement.
2. Identify any two Moodle plugins that CCT does not currently use and make a coherent case for why CCT should use this additional functionality.

1. Critically analyses CCT’s use of Moodle

1. Page: It has separated pages for each lecture. It makes a structure very organized and easily to find whatever you want and follow a class. Everything is on the same place; tasks could be applied with whole information; quiz could be pre schedule that way the students knows in advanced; at least all classes are recorded and saved on page.
2. Tasks: Secure way to apply tests and assignments. Students are be able to check every information about it; It is possible to see in advanced estimated time and submission blocked for itself; Submitted uploaded files are saved and with the time of the last change; Feedbacks from teaches appear easily to students.
3. Forum: Nowadays it is not easy place to find. Should be on menu of dashboard or somewhere that students can see fast. This functionality should be better disseminated, several students are unaware of it.
4. Grades: It is a very important functionality of Moodle but CCT should teach your team how to get the best of that. There were links that disappeared, total score wrong and feedbacks messing.

It can be used for the delivery of work by students, and everyone should see, or read, what others have posted and leave your comments. 2. Survey: Provides research information that is useful for assessing and stimulating classroom learning. Moodle Advantages.

Open source is possible to configure, format and frame the program in the best way for the institution. The code being opened a team can be responsible to analyze the code constantly, being able to correct flaws or generate improvements. Nowadays it is crucial to have a continuous improvement in any system.

Remote Access makes student learning easier due to the easy access that the mobile device brings. Even if you have problems with internet access can be done offline. Moodle can interact with several platforms, including google, facebook, zoom, among others. It is also possible to add plagiarism detection.

The platform allows you to carry out various activities, tests, evaluations, whether in group or individual. The progress of the class is visible for monitoring the student and teacher, measuring the performance and evolution of the class.

Moodle Disadvantages

Open Source requires a team with knowledge to adapt according to the needs of the company and someone from the company to pass precisely the information.

Important instruction to the students of the use and mainly for the teachers, otherwise it will appear that the tool is full of flaws. Due to the diversity of plugins for the tool, the use is outdated or misused when applied.

Since the platform is free and open source, it is assumed that there will be no costs. The company has to plan even more the costs that this tool will bring you in a way that is not entirely direct. Specialized IT team for implementation, purchase of suitable equipment, maintenance of equipment, team to administer and maintain the system, adequate training for its employees, among other points not mentioned.
