New Zealand

  • The monetary unit of New Zealand is the dollar;
  • New Zealand is located between two tectonic plates: the Pacific and the Australian.  As these plates constantly move and collide, New Zealand receives a lot of geological action;
  • New Zealand has over 15,000 kilometres of beautiful and diverse coastline. It is perfect for swimming, surfing and sunbathing.

Sunken Mountains

  • For thousands of years, the subduction process (the effect of tectonic plates colliding and making them sink), has witnessed many changes in the New Zealand’s landscape;
  • These areas present some of New Zealand’s most beautiful scenery, with beautiful slopes that precipitate to the bottom of the lakes.

Sports

  • Rugby is the most popular sport in New Zealand, with the legendary All Blacks;
  • Although the sport started in England’s public schools, in New Zealand, rugby became highly popular and very common.

Weather

  •  The weather in New Zealand is very unstable;
  • The far north has a subtropical climate during the summer, while in the alpine areas of the far south, the weather can reach negative temperatures during the winter;
  • January and February are the warmest months, and July is the coldest month of the year.

Fauna and flora

  • You can find a variety of incredible landscapes in New Zealand, all with easy access;
  • People that travel to New Zealand can choose from a very diverse offer of amazing scenarios, from beautiful mountains, to vast plains, hills, subtropical forest and volcanos. So it’s no surprise that New Zealand is becoming a popular place to film and photograph.

Conclusion

  • In my opinion New Zealand is a fascinating country, quite similar to Portugal in some points and I truly want to visit it when I get the chance.
