Final Speech
Good night, ladies and gentleman. My name is x and must say that it's an honor to have the opportunity to address such a distinguished audience in a moment that is so meaningful for me all the students that are present in this enclosure. As a real defender of a quality English teaching, I am here today to present you, besides the objective of my propose, of course, the essential necessity of an increase of our horizons and a splendid achievement of a real power of communication in a so diverse and demanding society. Based on this, I hope you enjoy the speech and find out on my message a way to make you happier people in front of a so uncertain future!
Taking such thing into consideration, I start my presentation talking about something that is too representative in my life, and probably in the life of every child that had contact with the incredible magic of the fairy tales. Developed with the intention to prove that the good always triumphs over the evil, these stories transmit knowledge and cultural values over the years, which makes us reflect and even dream with a reality that is completely possible inside our imagination. Known in the entire world, these plots call my attention, when they blend a factual reality with a realism that is traditional in such kind of story. Maybe one of the best examples of that is the fairy tale called "Anastasia"…
Released in 1997 as a north-American production, "Anastasia" was the first movie to be released by the Fox Animation Studios. Created by the directors Don Bluth and Gary Goldman, the tale was considered an unquestionable blockbuster, besides being nominated for several awards, including the Oscar of Best Original Song, with the song "Back to the past". As a true personification of the Russian essence, the animation portraits the apex of a crisis in the Russian system of government, where the czar, Nicolau II, and his wife, Maria Feodorovna, are banished from the society whereof a popular uprising. Fruit of a love between the two main figures of Monarchy, Anastasia is the single member of the Royalty family that got to escape from the popular angry and to perpetuate the name of the family in the history of Russia. The only problem, which one is presented in the movie, is that the girl ends up in an orphanage after having lost the consciousness in an accident in the day of her parents' death.
Alone and too distant from her reality, Anastasia stays in such orphanage until the day she discovers in her belongings a necklace that her grandmother had given to her still when she was a little girl. Decided to discover her real story, the girl starts an intense searching for her roots, which one just ends when Dimitri, a guy that used to be a serf in the Palace of Nicolau II, finds Anastasia and takes the girls to meet her grandmother. Determined to finish with the curse that had killed all her family, Anastasia gets to assassinate the magician Rasputin and gives a happy end to the tale.
Making a comparison between the plot and the real story, we can see that Anastasia is a huge warrior, besides a princess that can't be compared with the other ones that also gained a story to portrait their lives… Anastasia is a girl that showed her incredible persistence and self control in a moment that was too complex to be understood.
