Playing the game

before the match starts, the two teams run onto the pitch.

the referee controls the match, with two assistant referees

to help. the referee blows a whistle to start the match.

if the ball goes outside the lines on the pitch, the

assistant referee holds up their flag. When this happens,

there is a throw-in. One player takes the ball in their

hands and throws it back onto the field.

if the ball goes across the goal line, the rule is different.

if a player from the attacking team touched the ball last,

there is a goal kick. if a player from the defending team

touched the ball last, there is a corner kick.

Kinds of player football players can be big or

small, tall or short, heavy or light. One of the good things

about football is that small players can be just as good as

big players.there are usually four kinds of player.

each team has a goalkeeper. the goalkeeper is the only

player who can take the ball in their hands on the football

field. their job is to stop the ball when the
