O Deadpool Review – Deadpool Movie Itself

Even by the standards of the Marvel movies and 20th Century Fox's X-Men movies, which has become painfully predictable with each consecutive film, this is a very weird movie, so weird that it has nothing on The Incredibles 2.

But it's still funny, despite its inconsistencies and a tendency to be forgettable for stretches of its running time. Ryan Reynolds is the best he's ever been as the Merc with a Mouth, as is the cast of various TV series. And to add insult to injury, with the biggest of them all being all young white men who will have to face their parents, I've met all of them through the years. What's striking about them is how much their world shows just how different people can be when it comes to different cultures and different things.

Not everyone on the set is white like Reynolds and it's weird to see how different things are, but the world shows that they're just different folks who grew up in the same house but couldn't quite communicate that the same thing happened, with the best of both worlds coming together into their own. And it's all very well being a white guy, as long as you remember that the original X-Men were pretty much white, and I'm still a few things shy of being black, but this time it has to be a lot. We're all in this together.

Even when it was about trying to fight off an alien invasion, that really meant something.
