                                        ANSWERS

  1. The documentary talks about the use of exclamation points over the years and how its use is important to express all kinds of emotions. It shows a trajetory of the writing techniques, the invention of the exclamation point, its use on every decade and also the opinion of writers and editors about how we should use it when writing personal or professional documents.
  2. They joke on the documentar saying that “We use exclamation points after exclamations”, but they also show some images of arquives that show us that the exclamation points should be used after a “admiration or wonder note” or even just to catch the readers attention.
  3. Yes, I do agree with that. No, I have not reflected on how the use of the exclamation point or any other punctuation affects on my life (LOL). But yes, it does affect somehow.

My use of the exclamation points is pretty normal. I mean, I use it a lot to express happiness or even how much I am angry or pissed off. I use it with a lot of slangs too.

  1. The interrobang was the union of the exclamation point and the interrogation point, created by a couple back in the old days. It didn’t work out very well at that time and ended up falling by the wayside just like other punctuations created at that time. But nowadays we use something similar to it, which is the “!?”, an informal way to do it.
  2. “Mom, my girlfriend is pregnant!” (The person is happy with that situation, so we use the exclamation point to express happiness). “Oh no, the police just took my car away from me!” (The person is wroth with that situation, so we use the exclamation point to indicate it).
