Step 1: Good morning, class! My name’s Jessica and I’ll be your teacher today.

How are you doing? Ok?

I don’t know about you, but I’m already longing for the weekend. And you? In our daily lives /daily laives/ there’s always so much to do! How can we cope (make things easier) with life?

Some psychological studies report that is important to learn how to multitask. Does anyone have a clue of what this verb means?

To multitask. Multi -a lot

Task – any kind of work

Multitask - to do several different things at the same time:

I’m sweeping the house. And I’m also cooking. And listening music and talking to my mum.

Have you ever done this? Or do u think it’s possible to multitask and get all things done?

I personally have my doubts if one can deal with more than one job at once, but….

Step2:

We are going to listen a talk between two friends: Oliver and Alfie, the day before they had a test at school. So, I want you to pay attention and tick what Oliver says he’s doing at the moment.

*

So, what he says he’s doing?

Oliver calls to his friend Alfie and asks “what are you doing?”

Alfie answers: “I’m studying for tomorrow’s exam. You?”

Oliver replied: me too.

But he also states he’s doing a few more things other than just studying.

He says: He’s uploading (to copy computer information, usually from a small computer to the Internet) photos to Facebook.

He’s sending a message to Billy.

He’s downloading (to copy computer programs, music, or information electronically, usually from the Internet or from a larger computer) the new Arcade Fire album.

He’s having a coffee.

So, in his own words he’s doing all these things at the same time. Now, I ask you: Do you think it can be possible?

I still have my doubts… and so does Alfie because he says: “you are not really studying at all, are you?” Alfie sounds sceptical (Alfie is doubtful:) /doutful/ . Unconvinced.

Step 4:

Now, I want you to pay attention in this words in bold (strong in colour or shape):

How can we talk about something that is happening at the time of speaking, as to say, when the action is not finished.

Can you pick a phrase?

Eg: He’s sending a message to Billy.

Use verb to be + main verb + ing > for all persons

(This grammar structure is called “Present continuous”)
