Do you think globalization is good for civilization?

Globalization coud be the best thing for civilization if we took the opportunity to get to know and respect other cultures well. We coud also live better with all the communication and information we have and improve the world for everyone by solving problems like famine, poverty, enviromentalissues, etc.

Globalization makes it easier and cheaper. Having points in common with people from other countries may more people and be more tolerant.

Globalization also has disadvantages because there is much more competition and only the big companies seuvive and so there is more poverty. For products to become cheaper we may have more poverty because people are very badly paid in some parts of the world.

We can risk losing our culture and national identity and culture values are forced upon other cultures leading to wars, intolerance and discrimination.

Many diseases may spread more easily because it´s so easy to travel and move around the world so quickly.

A though we can meet many people from many places around the world it doesn´t mean we become more civilized.

Written exercise:

English is considered the official language of the world because it is used by most countries to communicate, trade and solve problems.

It became the international language because of the power of the British Empire and the industrial revolution and later with the economic, political and cultural power of USA.

English helps us to communicate with other people around the world because we can use the language in the social networks and talk with people around the world.

We also use it for work, to study, travel, live abroad, etc.

The internet can be a good tool to learn English because there are many contents in English.

Through the worldwide market there´s better access to… Things are more expensive.

We can have a wide variety of products. We lose our identity.

Products become cheaper. There´s much more competition.

Shops are all around the globe. Human and animal diseases can spread.
