Summary: Breenan Eagles is a former Texas Wideout that was a highly praised recruit coming out of high school. Has Track Background. Earned an honorable mention All-Big 12 as WR. He plays a Good AA, displaying VERY GOOD speed, VERY GOOD explosion to jump and GOOD COD, ELITE Height and VERY GOOD Weight.
Eagles plays with GOOD feet quickness to create space at the line of scrimmage, but despite his size, struggles to defeat press against top competition where patient corners can take away his steps and widen his releases. Has a VERY GOOD linear speed that he uses to eat cushions and attack deep. He’s a productive deep threat, flashing when face slow and/or tight corners, but is a one-speed-guy that lacks that second gear to separate deep when is running crossing or post routes. With the ball in the air, does an ELITE job tracking and adjusting to the ball, it’s shown in his carrer 16.8 yards per reception. Even running a limited range of routes, his ability to stem his routes are only AVG, don’t look to create and explore leverages and most of his routes are slow to develop. He displays a “ABV AVG- to- GOOD” ability to get separation, has a GOOD footwork, sells the route with his heads and elbows, but plays with tight hips and poor bend on his knees, leading to lack of burst on his breaks making easy for DBs to mirror his routes. The top of his routes is rounded and lacks sharpness, but flashes some precision when facing off coverage. Against top competition, once the DB put hands on him, the play is over. Lacks play strength to deal with DBs trying to reroute him. Often, he loses some ground and hurt his tempo. Know how to use his body to shield his underneath routes. Does a VERY GOOD job reading the coverage and adjusting his routes to find the uncovered area and help his QB. Plays with GOOD hands, tends to attack the ball in air and avoid body catches, but they are soft leading to some drops. When the ball is out of his frame, he’s AVG at best. Don’t show willingness to attack those balls, so he leaves some plays on the field. Even with an ELITE wingspan and explosion to jump, his contested catch ability is also AVERAGE. Problems dealing with the crowd is shown all over his tape, lacks focus and physicality to thrive in those situations. Don’t have the ideal body control to create separation with the ball in air. AVG YAC, is a catch and tackle guy. Don’t have elusiveness, power or creativity to create on open field.
In the run game, he can dominate smaller CBs with his size. Does a VERY GOOD job positioning and seems willing to block. Although he can do a better job when leading into the safeties in space. |
One Liner: Breenan Eagles is a Wide receiver with ELITE size and catch radius. Has a VERY GOOD linear speed to attack deep and does an ELITE job adjusting to the ball making him a valuable deep threat. Although, struggles against press coverage. Is an AVG route runner, that does a AVG work painting his routes, and don’t drop his hips to break, leading to AVG burst after his cuts. Plays with GOOD hands, but is only AVG in contested catches situation. Overall, he’s a WR with some ELITE athletic traits, but lacks the wide Receiver traits. Is a developmental prospect that can find home in XFL, but his traits don’t fits in the CFL style of game. |
