Limerick

Limerick has been an important gateway city for over 800 years. Due to the city's location on the midpoint of the Atlantic Corridor, it has become something of a base city for tourists travelling along the west coast of Ireland, although the city has many attractions in its own right. King John's Castle in the medieval quarter of the city is arguably the best known attraction in the city, dating back to 922AD.

Culture – Saint Patrick’s Day

One of the most known holidays on Ireland is the San Patrick’s Day, celebrated in March 17th. It talks about Saint Patrick, a christian missionary and bishop in Ireland and is represented by the shamrock, the harp, the green color, among others simbolic identities.

Culture – Jack’o Lantern Folklore

The tale of Jack’o Lantern came from an irish myth that tells the story of Stingy Jack, a lazy blacksmith who tricked Satan, aprisioning him with a cross, letting him go only when he agrees never to take his soul. After some time, Jack died, but he has committed too many sins to go to heaven, and as the devil wanted to fulfill his promise, he didn’t let him go to hell.

As he had nowhere to stay, Jack asked Satan how he would see his path, and the devil replied tossing an ember from the flames of Hades that would never burn out. He carved one of his turnips (nabo) (his favorite food), put the ember inside it, and began to wander the Earth in search for a place to rest. He became known as “Jack of the Lantern”, or Jack o’ Lantern.
