OS CENTROS DE CONVIVÊNCIA DA TERCEIRA IDADE DE VITÓRIA-ES:
MAPEAMENTO E ORGANIZAÇÃO DOS SERVIÇOS
ABSTRACT
It is notorious that the elderly population has been growing in our country, a fact that has
historically brought attention to the services of health care and social assistance to organize
themselves in a way to make possible better live conditions and access to them by the elderly.
In this aspect, several policies in the field of social services have been structured to make
progress for actions directed to this population, also foreseeing the creation of specific spaces
to its access. As example of this, Convenience Centers to the Third Age which integrate the
network of basic social protection of the singular system of social assistance are created in
Vitoria, ES and other locations of the country. Such equipment may be pointed as important
part of the formal social network of the people who frequent it, as it helps the creation of links
between the elderly, favoring the sociability and preventing social isolation. Taking in
consideration such premises, the objective is the mapping of the amount and location of the
Centers in Vitoria and comprehend how their equipments are being organized, specially on
the concerns of the activities realized there and the existing professionals. As such, through
presentation of a free and clarified consent term, are given semi-structured interviews with the
coordinators of these equipment. After the gathering of the data, the interviews have been
transcribed, fact that made possible figuring out the categories to be discussed at work. We
could map the existence of four centers, in different neighbors of the city and comprehend
what has been offered to the elderly public, professionally, and in terms of activities,
resources, among other questions. With regards to the team of work, we have noted the
fragility of the professional contracts, created by Foundations and the difference between
professionals working in each Center. With regards to the activities offered, we have noticed
that many of them prioritize care with body and health, leaving to second plan the objectives
of which equipment should serve, a fact that seems to be a reflection of the lack of knowledge
there is about the SUAS, by the professionals who act on it and by which the users of it could
be benefited. It is expected that this research will be auxiliary on the constant reflection
exercise on new political formulations and actions in respect to the Brazilian third age and the
equipment and services that can assure an increase of the quality of life in the lives of these
subjects.
