Central Park New York USA
The Central Park is a large park in the city of New York. It is located in the heart of Manhattan and are 341 hectares of green area in the city that never sleeps. The Central Park is one of the most visited and popular spots in New York, receiving more than 35 million tourists every year.
The most visited park in the city and appears in many films and television programs, making it known worldwide. There are many attractions in Central Park and you cannot see all on your first visit.
Like other parks around the world, Central Park is not natural. It was built for thirteen years and opened in 1873. The project was the architect Calvert Vaux and Frederick Olmsted.
Hundreds of squares, statues, playgrounds, ponds, bike, paths hiking trails, two ice skating rinks, and several courses and many attractions for all tastes, in winter and summer.
Central Park attractions
Sheep Meadow: It is a beautiful place to rest and picnics, especially in summer, the park gets crowded and beyond those relaxing and sunning. You can see people playing FreeSBIE, practicing football and other sports.
Strawberry Fields: Tribute to John Lennon. It is a black and white mosaic floor with the inscription "Imagine" in the center, reference to the famous Beatles song. It is close to the park entrance opposite the Dakota Building, building where Lennon lived and was murdered in 1980.
The Mall: A beautiful "promenade" all wooded yielding a nice walk and beautiful photos.
Belvedere Castle: The castle was built in the 19th century on the Vista ROCK, not one of the artificial rocks in the park.
Zoo: The zoo is small and you can see some sights and presentations without having to pay the ticket and go in fact. The zoo was used as the backdrop of the movie Madagascar. Lions, monkeys, penguins and polar bears and among others can be seen at the Central Park Zoo.
Shakespeare Garden: A beautiful garden containing some of the flowers and plants mentioned in Shakespeare's works.
Bethesda Terrace: A beautiful fountain called "Angel of the Waters" driven into the heart of the park. On the steps you have a wonderful view of the lake and the Great Lawn and under the stairs, because of the good acoustics, street performers often sing or play instruments.
Conservatory Garden: It is a garden divided into three styles: Italian, French and English. It is also an area of silence and rest in the park, ideal for relaxing.
Alice in Wonderland statue: The statue is a favorite of children who go up and play at ease in it.
Lasker Rink and Pool: During the summer, the free pool is open 7 days a week and attracts many visitors. In winter, it is open to ice skating area.
The Pond: Is one of the major lakes of Central Park and, as is in the southernmost part of the park, is also the most visited.
Conservatory Water and Kerbs Boathouse: It is small artificial lake! Between April and October, you can hire a boat.
