Education in Postmodernity: The development during the 20th century
In the last century, we saw various technologies advances, they changed the world in multiple ways. The education may be one of the categories with the most improvements.
During the 20th century, we passed from an education that was very formal with few spaces to technologies from out of the education atmosphere to an education more inclusive for people and techs. In the beginning of the century, we can find theories like the ones from Ford that influences a lot the education. After some researches in the area after half of the century, we clearly have important changes in the way the teacher act in the classroom, helping developing citizens.
It´s also important to say that the Globalization has a main role in this movements. So, we must talk about the differences between what is Globalization and the concept of Internalization.
Internalization has more to relation with the period after colonial age, when is important expand the influence of the country through the globe. The term also speaks a lot about a time of diplomatic exchanges and international agencies. While Globalization conjures up a world with the internet, mass tourism and global popular culture; a world without walls.
During the period of cold war, the world entered in a phase of high improvements, this is also reflected in the acceleration of the Globalization process and a great jump in the development of technologies. The education embraces this process and opened itself.
Today, the educator has access to a different number of tools to be applied in classroom with the students. Not only physical tools, but different methods, the professional of education has more liberty to do your own class.
Lastly, we can feature that the education is finding new paradigms along your way. They are challenging our knowledge society; we are living in a world in constant transition so quickly the education faces new problems and new solutions. But more important in all this context, is that we must embrace an education that gave people skills to face the world and not only the labor market.
